Captivating, dramatic and demanding, the Rolex 24 at Daytona sits alongside the 24 hours of Le Mans as one of the most famous and reveres endurance races in the world. Enticing the world’s greatest drivers and continuously pushing the modern automobile beyond the established limits of reliability, the competition is the ultimate test of man and machine.
ROLEX AND 24H DAYTONA
The 2022 Rolex 24 At DAYTONA marks the diamond jubilee of one of motor sport’s most fabled races. From Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 January, a capacity field of 60 cars competed in this annual race against the clock. In a year of milestones, North America’s endurance epic celebrates 60 years of exhilarating action at the Daytona International Speedway®, while Rolex observes its 30th anniversary as Title Sponsor. This relationship between Rolex and Daytona dates back even further to when Sir Malcolm Campbell, the so-called King of Speed, set five World Land Speed Records at Daytona Beach, the fastest in 1935 behind the wheel of Bluebird with a Rolex Oyster on his wrist.
Rolex has supported the 24h Daytona event since the early 1960s and named it one of its most iconic watches after this temple of motorsport.
DAYTONA COSMOGRAPH
While the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph watch is one of the most coveted and beloved watches from the Swiss giant among the general collecting public, it is genuinely the most coveted draw for the racers. Introduced in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers. It is now an icon forever joined in name and function to the high-performance world of motorsport. Almost 60 years after its creation, the Cosmograph Daytona remains in a class of its own among sports chronographs and continues to transcend time.

THE 2022 ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA WINNERS
Helio Castroneves took the Meyer Shank Racing team to the top of the boards, demonstrating determination and resilience around the clock in unseasonably cold conditions for Florida. They have been crowned champions of the 60th anniversary Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. Oliver Jarvis, Tom Blomqvist, Helio Castroneves, and Simon Pagenaud shared driving responsibilities for the winning car, showcasing man and machine in perfect harmony while testing the boundaries of human endeavor and engineering expertise.
In line with the enduring tradition of the race, the winning drivers were presented with a specially engraved Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in recognition of the achievement, dedication, and excellence required to take the victory.
“It’s all about belief. We all believed that we could do it and we knew the hard wok involved. However, when we accomplish something as we did today, it’s priceless. You push as hard as you can to win that Rolex”
Helio Castroneves
ROLEX AND MOTORSPORT
Rolex’s close ties with motorsport date back to Sir Malcolm Campbell’s World Land Speed Record successes in the 1930s, when he became the first driver to break the 300 mph barrier (483 km/h) at the wheel of his car, Bluebird. Since then, Rolex’s presence in motor racing has grown steadily, its support extending to revered endurance events such as the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2013, Rolex became associated with Formula 1®, the pinnacle of motorsport, having supported Rolex Testimonee Sir Jackie Stewart since 1968. The three-time FIA Formula 1® Drivers’ World Champion has been joined by fellow high achievers from the world of motorsport: Tom Kristensen, the record nine-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, and Mark Webber, the multiple Formula 1® race winner and 2015 FIA World Endurance Champion. The brand also has a global appreciation for classic automotive events steeped in elegance, beauty, and tradition, including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and the Goodwood Revival.
